The Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of the Mannar District Secretariat is established to strengthen good governance, accountability, transparency, integrity, and efficient public service delivery within the District Secretariat and its Divisional Secretariat offices.

The Unit serves as an important mechanism for receiving, coordinating, monitoring, and following up on complaints, grievances, and matters relating to the administration and delivery of public services. Through systematic complaint management and internal monitoring, the IAU supports the identification of administrative issues and promotes timely and appropriate action by the relevant authorities.

The Internal Affairs Unit is committed to ensuring that complaints and concerns received from the public are handled in a fair, transparent, confidential, and responsible manner, while maintaining due regard for applicable laws, regulations, procedures, and the rights of all parties concerned.

Our Key Functions

1. Receiving and registering public complaints and grievances.
2. Coordinating the examination and follow-up of complaints with relevant institutions and officers.
3. Monitoring the progress and status of complaints until appropriate action is taken.
4. Identifying recurring administrative issues and recommending improvements.
5. Supporting transparency, accountability, and integrity in public administration.
6. Promoting ethical conduct and responsible public service among government officers.
7. Maintaining proper records and statistics relating to complaints and internal affairs.
8. Supporting anti-corruption and integrity-related programs.
9. Providing information and guidance to the public on appropriate channels for submitting complaints.
10. Promoting continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of public service delivery.
